French company Ankama steals portal weapon Posted on Saturday, March 15 2008

French company Ankama has decided to steal the portal weapon from Valve's hit game Portal for their new animated series. Instead of having a portal gun the main character in the series throws his portals, other than that the portal functionality is the same. You can see the ripoff trailer here, which primarily features the portal weapon. The official airing date has not been confirmed, but is rumored to be released late 2008 to early 2009 on channel 3 France. Ankama is known for its MMORPG games Dofus, Dofus Arena and the approaching beta release of Wakfu. The gameplay is turn-based and similar to Final Fantasy Tactics. Ankama has attempted to broaden it's influence outside of the online community by this animated series and also an announced Nintendo DS release of Wakfu.
